Note:
1. The instructions are for dialup users who are on Windows XP and Windows 98SE
* Windows 98 has similar tabs and such, but I do not have access to a Windows 98 box. There are 2 sets of instructions, one for XP and one for 98SE.
2. If your files that you may be downloading seems to get corrupted, change the settings back.
3. I am not reliable for any damages that you may pertain.
4. Do not follow my pictures, the settings in the pictures are wrong, so don’t set it based on how my pictures are. These rules are simple, and I have used these settings since I begun playing UB on my Juno account, which was around May, 2002. Please do not rip this off.
5. Results may vary. I have seem people went from 2k/sec to 4k/sec and from 300 ping to 230 ping.
Instructions: [Windows XP]
Click on the “Start” Menu. Move your cursor to “Settings”-> “Control Panel”-> and click on “Phone and Modem Options”. [Fig 1.0]
A window entitled “Phone and Modem Options” should appear. Click on the tab labeled “Modem”.
Under the “Modem” dialog box, there should be a list of all of your modems currently installed. Select the modem that is used to connect to the internet. Then click on “Properties”.
Now click on the “Advanced” tab. There should be an “Advanced Port Settings...” and “Change Default Preferences...”
In “Advanced Port Settings”, set “Receive Buffer” to 14 and “Transmit Buffer” to 16”. Press ok. This option should be kept this way, even if you decide to change it back to default.
Now click on “Change Default Preferences”, located in Fig 1.3. Set the “Port Speed” to 115200, “Compression” Disabled, “Flow Control” to None.
